Autumn in Big Bear: Three Trails, Three Perspectives

A few days in the San Bernardino Mountains, exploring the forests, ridgelines, and quiet waters around Big Bear Lake.
Our adventures took us along three beautiful routes: Castle Rock to Lookout Point, with its rugged granite formations and sweeping mountain views; Pine Knot Trail to Grand View Point, winding through towering pines toward expansive vistas; and a peaceful walk along Big Bear Lake, where the still water, golden grasses, and early morning light revealed a quieter side of the mountains.
What made this trip special wasn't just the scenery, but the changing light. From the first rays of sunrise filtering through the forest to the warm autumn sun illuminating the meadows, each hike offered something different.
These photographs capture a few of those moments, some dramatic, others wonderfully ordinary, all reminders that sometimes the most beautiful part of a hike is simply stopping to look.

Between Light and Shadow
Sometimes it's a mountain disappearing into morning clouds, the last light reflecting across the water, or a trail leading somewhere I haven't been before. Other times it's a city after dark, an unexpected reflection, an empty street, or the geometry of a building against a dramatic sky.
My photography moves between two worlds: landscape and urban life. They may seem very different, but what draws me to both is the same: light, atmosphere, and those brief moments when an ordinary scene becomes something more.
